finished basket

i signed this off last night. this morning, being a very grey and blowy day there was wonderful little window of sunlight so i grabbed the camera, the basket and some lemons and headed to the garden.

this is in fact half a duvet cover. a polyester blend i am guessing - not as nice to work with as pure cotton, gets very thready as you tear. but, i don't mind the colour.

eggs

yesterday i took a trip to the tron (hamilton) and caught up with a very old friend who had these goodies waiting! onions - someone had given them a big bagful, more than they could use but the eggs are from her sweet chickens and the walnuts from their tree. and the basket was for me - she claims that i passed this addiction onto her - of that i am proud!

i just had to separate these two off from the araucanas as i am smitten with the colour. i might blow the egg out and save the shell so i can continue to fill my boots with that hue!

 

bird

this little bird, and a few others, have been hanging in trees for a couple of years now. i like their aging and their sturdiness survivng the elements. spring always brings them into focus again.

i like the shadow and the angle of flight - weeeeeeeeeeee!

monday mending

these are some socks i knitted a while ago. the other day i was wearing them and thought they felt really strange - little wonder - there was a big hole in the bottom of the heel. while watching 'call the midwife' i got to do some darning and was very happy with the plaid effect the yarn gave me.

scrappy socks

i have so much leftover sock yarn, not enough for a pair or even one sock, but some of which i really like so i decided to mash it up. i like that as i knit a particular colour i would remember who those socks had been made for. most often when i finish a pair they seem to go straight on a chilly pair of feet but most times not mine! so, on this beautiful spring day, with no one home, they made it onto my feet. 

woof woof woof

headed for my little felt shop are these little woofers. i had a bit of fun breaking open the watercolours and making a house and bowl as props.

e is for edie

a friend commissioned me to make for newborn edie, a book. this felt extra special because a couple of years ago i made this elephant for for my friend.

i wanted the book to be tactile yet soft. muted colours and not too obviously pink. gentle textures and images. natural fibres and hand stitching. so, let us have a flick through the pages of a project i adored.

where the bridal bunnies went

all the way to a little village in rural england. so pretty.

the carrot cake the bride's mum and dad made which they cut with a sword - perfect! and a burlap base. well, i couldn't have been happier!
