this song ran on loop in my head while i knitted this hat for michael for christmas. the hat is named jacques cousteau and i was smitten not only with the name but with the shaping. i loved that show when i was a kid. so, even though its the middle of the summer here it will get cold again. it was a quick and easy project to knit up and the shaping was simple.
now, i must fess up to ditching the chickadee cardigan that i started before christmas. it was just too challenging. too many stitches on the needle and i felt like i was knitting into the dark and i was, frankly, terrified. terrified that i would have to rip it back. i even got advise from melissa but i think i really needed her here and minnesota to new zealand is quite a hike! so, the yarn i had has not gone to waste and maybe, one day, i'll try again.
an elf like point that flattens down when on the head
oh that shaping!
and thanks to my models - most obliging - an old tin bucket and a stone. just imagine that crown a little more roundy.
