two of the teachers at prairie's school are getting married on the weekend. the groom sadly, is dying. the staff asked him what they could do for him and he said he wanted to marry his sweetheart so they are putting on the wedding. i always make the dolls for the cakes if anyone is getting married and so i offered to make these. my heart ached with every stitch - that was a hard one.

i have been trying to sort my fabrics and have commandeered the playhouse as fibre central. thank you p and i promise to be out of there before the summer! i am discovering all sorts of treasures including these blanket samples a friend gave me ages ago. they are about 5" x 10" and i washed them in a hot wash to felt them down a bit more. the colours are beautiful.
then i ironed them all. i have no immediate plans but think i will use them as i would felt. and anyway, i must focus on the task at hand. its a whooper i tell you!

i have a dear friend who has an eagle eye when it comes to scouring the second hand joints. and, she knows just what i love!
this she said, was yelling out my name - i'm so glad it was! part of me wants to rip a label off and start knitting something straight away and the other squirrel part wants to keep it in its pristine glory. i love how the percentage of wool to cotton is written.
but there was more! cinnamon. delicious.
and this trio with their quaint labels. i love them all.
and to add to my stash of wooden reels - you can never have too many - 15 new additions!

something i was playing with the other day was some tie dying for a project i have been working on and am busting to share but i can't just yet. before i dropped it in the dye pot i had to photograph the sculptural nature of it.

a friend of tommy's has shifted down to queenstown - bottom of the south island. a ski town and very beautiful. a lot of LOTR was shot there. this friend calls me mum. he gets socks.
the yarn was really nice to knit and the colourway stunning. i love that they are not paternal.
yesterday we were clearing the asparagus patch - there are some spears poking through which is very exciting but sadly we have to leave them to strengthen the crowns. oh i cannot look at them without reaching for a small sharp knife.
in the back of the patch was a jerusalem artichoke i had planted over the summer - it had snapped in the wind so i thought that was that.
no siree
i have planted five more rhizomes this morning.
you know what they say about artichokes!
