i finally got my our spinning wheel. i was reprimanded for by prairie for refering to it as mine. i got it off our version of craig's list and got it for a great price as the location was out of auckland but we just happened to be passing through that way on the weekend.

and hanging on it was a charming little burlap bag - oh yeah - be in to win!!! i love the ric rac trim - in it was a spare cord and a homemade hook.

whe we were travelling we stopped in a small town at a craft market being held on the main street. there were thrree women spinning and knitting. sisters! i leapt out and told them i was on the way to pick up my our wheel. i was saying that all i needed wa a lazy kate and they told me that when they were learning as young girls they had no money so made theirs out of a shoe box and a couple of old knitting needles. they were so sweet. it was hard to get away and if we hadn't been under a time pressure to pick up the wheel, and if the family hadn't been stacked into the car i wouldv'e stayed all day!
an amazon box and old needles works a treat! thats prairie's foot motoring away there plying up that yarn.

and when she had done that she started on her own bobbins and spun away into the night until they were full! the poor boys - we have parked the wheel near the fire and taken over the lounge. they know better than to complain though! they might get a brightly coloured beanie - if they are lucky!!
