today marks the fourth year of my blog! four years of continuous inspiration. four years of meeting across the planet so many wonderful, creative talented women. four years of the first thing i do in the morning is to check the blogs. four years of kicking my kids off to 'check my blog' (there might be a new comment!) four years of creating things that never would have come about without the opportunities that have arisen over this time.
as i looked back through four years of photos i realised there sure have a been a lot of softies made!
to celebrate and to thank all my wonderful readers you can make one yourself. i have two bunny kits and am happy to post them anywhere. say hi and i'll do a draw at the end of the weekend!

hand knitted for my darling though he wasn't allowed to put them straight on as they had to be pressed, photographed and blogged - of course!
they were easy and pleasant to knit though on the second to last row of the second sock i dropped the five stitches off one needle and ended up having to rip back the work to a place that easier to pick up the stitches = i stayed up till i had knitted to the finish line and i finished them off this morning.
the pattern was from here and i used a woolen/acrylic 4ply yarn i got on sale at spotlight. prairie is asking for the next pair and coloured so will get her the multi coloured sock yarn.

look what made its way from one end of the pacific to the other! the gorgeous, oh so talented and always hilarious monica made my day with a pile of holiday goodness. she designed this range and it is so so delightful - i am humming those festive tunes as i plan what i want to make with it all!
and look - five different colourways - wow wee!!

i first saw these here and immediately wanted to make one. thanks dottie angel for such a lovely pattern that doesn't involve screeds of nylon ribbon! i got my hangers at spotlight (for those of you in the antipodes) and after a couple of attempts (they can be for us) i used an 8ply yarn, a 3.50mm hook and made the chain row 76 + 2 and made 14 shells. i found the 8ply on a 4mm hook too baggy for the rather small sized spotlight hangers. i also painted the wooden part of the hangers cream as i preferred seeing that through the holes rather than the actual wood.
these two are for my godmother - they are a quick and easy project and a perfect gift for the aunts in your life.
i doo-daaed them up with some flowers........

still viewing the world through rose coloured spectacles. still waiting for the new mac but it is snowing bills at the moment. it keeps getting bumped off the top of the priority list - even the cat took top billing with his high temperature - top billing is right - those vets charge like wounded bulls!! still in all as diana rigg said in the muppets movie.
however, blogging being a rather large component of my day has been sorely missed. my photos are mounting up even though they look like they have a pink fungal layer and i can bear this situation no longer! so i will post through the pink (if only for you miss fruity of ellerslie!) and i issue a disclaimer in regards to the quality of the photos.
so heres a little of what has been going on here.............
a birthday bag for ginger, a girl in tommy's class
a pencil case for prairie - a second one as she was busting out of the one i made last year. and the perfect lining - sent to me by the lovely melissa in a red and white swap we had last year!
and on the subject of prairie - she wowed us with another of her etch a sketch creations
and with the weather cooling down the knitting needles have been a clackin'!
a beanie for a new wee man. i used this pattern but couldn't locate the right sized dpns and of course i had to start right then so used two needles and made the seam as flat as possible
i did however get the right size dpns for this hat for michael and used a pattern on ravelry - a practical warm hand knit for servicemen!
and it was so nice to knit that i made one for my brother for his birthday
i'm not sure what was a bigger hit - the hat or the wrapping (my niece whispered to me that he was like a baby at christmastime playing with the paper and not the gift!) the burlap decoration promptly became an armband (perfect fit) and he rang that little bell all night!
oh that felt good. back in the saddle albeit pink x
