well january is done and dusted. it was a quiet, slow, sticky month for us. lots of preserving, beach trips and a lot of time in front of the tennis - go the fed! the kids go back to school tomorrow so the year will start again.
more jam - more strawberry - i didn't think i had made enough to cover tommy's voracious ability to tear through it. melissa - a tad more sunshine for you! i love the way the jars glow on the windowsill. i sit them there for a couple of days before i force myself to shut them away in the dark.
and talk about glow. we picked these up at a roadside stand and in this heat they are ripening so fast - i canned the last of them and even though its only 2 jars - somewhere down the line in the middle of the winter i will be very happy to find them. and miss fruity of ellerslie - i hope its all going well in your kitchen!
last night prairie baked apple pockets from 'honest pretzels' - all by herself! i didn't even pretty them up by putting them on a plate - we were in too much of a hurry to scoff them and they were beautiful! i wasn't allowed to help - at all but i was allowed to come and watch her in the ad breaks. she even made bread dough with yeast. i was very impressed and shall keep her on this track!
my friend kay from salvage has been in paris and very kindly thought of me when she was in this store. paris is such a very very long way from new zealand - as far as you can go really, so its very exciting to get something from there
and in the bag were these goodies
thank you so much kay - i love them all. and - happy birthday!! xxx
hooray for sunshine glowing through jam jars! the shot of the peaches makes me a little weak in the knees - gorgeous!
as are prairie's apple pockets - yummy!
an oh, what amazing ribbons and bits from *paris* of all places - oooh la la!

You have all been so busy at your house. All those jars look so delicious. And so do the apple pockets. Such a fine job prarie did. I think it's wonderful when children want to bake and cook. My son loves it too.
You were so lucky to get something from La Droguerie. I love all their fabulous knitting patterns. Our daughter is going to Paris this spring with her high school. Maybe I could convince her to buy something from La Droguerie for me. ;))
Have a lovely day, Louise...

Yum, Strawberry jams & jellies are a favorite here. They don't seem to last long unless I hide a few jars. :)
