congratulations to the lovely monica at happy zombie!!! i waited until prairie came home from school so she could do the draw because she thinks that is the most exciting thing to do and tommy did the drum roll. so, monica, this little bunny and the book will be on their way to you.

one whole year!

yes its true. today is my blogiversary. one whole year of blissful blogging. thank you baksho for without you prodding me to go and visit your sisters blog i'm not sure what i would have been doing over the past year! and thank you (this is my academy speech!) simmy for being that sister with the fabuloius blog who launched me into this new and wonderful world! and of course thank you to all of you 'out there' who have dropped by and left comments. i love each and every one of those comments and am still so excited when i see that there are new ones there! it has been truly amazing making new friends. and i thought it was exciting to have penpals when i was a kid!! the swaps and gifts in the post have always been stuffed to the gills with love and generosity and i never cease to be amazed. it has been a year of being totally inspired and motivated and that never would have happened had i not embarked on this journey. i am now a total junkie who switches on the computer before i have coffee, and if you know me, this is saying something!

so to celebrate all of the above i have a give away for you. it is a 1967 edition filled with fabulous patterns and a rabbit that i made out of one of the patterns in there. so come on now, don't be shy, leave a comment, i'll ship anywhere, and sometime next week we'll draw a name out of the basket. and again, thank you from the bottom of my heart xxx

open for business

finally, after loads of new learning on photoshop and tons of little photos of even smaller mice i am up and running and the open sign has been flipped over! so, here is what i have put in there. a loulou doll, 3 little softie cars and lots of meeces! actually they are not all in there yet, i'll chip away at them! but for now i might rest up and get knitting some mittens as it has got cold here! or maybe it'll have to be little guinea sweaters. i feel so sorry for them out there at night. tommy and prairie have named them randy and earl after a fav show!

new babies

well, i didn't quite get to the etsy shop (sorry sp, you'll have to camp out a little longer!) because we were busy building this little enclosure, complete with vintage style plastic table covering for the roof and matching bunting which, apart from the plastic and the hinges, was all recycled!

all for these little cuties who arrived this afternoon! my brother lives out on the west coast and they are the result of their guineas. they are four week old boysies, without names. that, insist tommy and prairie is their job. that is not the only job they will have!

after they were settled in chez piggie we settled in by the fire and ate this, my favourite dessert, cherry clafoutis. it is so not cherry season here so they are imported from i know not where which, you know, rings the food mile bell but seeing the lovely bix boxes of them i could not resist. and it was delicious!

knitting queen

my prairie has had lots of time off school due to a snotty nose then a tummy bug and this is the result! we were in spotlight the other day (which is our barn size craft store) and they had a new fun range of yarn called yarn bee. of course i had only popped in to pick up some thread but we came out with a load of new supplies. prairie had learnt to knit with her class but hadn't done any for a long time and was saying that she really wasn't a knitter (hush your mouth child!) this range of yarn, and the gorgeous needles that went with it were so enticing i got her to chose some yarn for a scarf. well, the proof is in the pudding. she has been tucked up on the couch, knitting her little heart out! she was very proud last night showing me that she could knit with her eyes closed. hey, thats my trick! it measures 29"/74cm long and still 2 balls to go! there is a cold snap on its way with fronts pushing snow north up the islands (not that it ever gets this far north) but it still gets pretty cold so she will be able to wear it with pride. she said she can't wait till someone asks where she got it. i wonder what she will do next!

i have been busy getting some little creatures ready for my newly created etsy shop. nearly there. this weekend!
