after seeing monica's little hello kitty machine, sweetly named mimi, prairie and i were smitten. but being down here on this part of the planet we are deprived of such goodies. monica kindly offered to ship one out here but after looking around we managed to find blossom. i picked her up on friday and prairie and i have been sewing ever since. blossom can be a back up machine for me when mine goes in for a service as well. it sews slowly making my pfaff seem like a ferrari but makes nice stitches and a learner driver doesn't need the complication of speed!
after prairie's test runs i got her to hem around a lining for an old basket i found to use. then i cut out a pincushion and she managed to sew in a circle. a little wobbly but pretty damn good for a first timer! this afternoon we are going to make lavander bags.
we have had a very sad week here and blossom was just the thing needed to cheer us up. one of our cats, jupiter, went missing. the cats, elephant (ellie) and jupe are brother and sister and only 4 years. ellie is tiny, fluffy and grey and is prairie's cat. jupey boy is tabby and very handsome and tommy's cat. he just hasn't come back and i don't think he will. we looked and looked but it is like a needle in a haystack. who knows what happened but boy do we miss him. he was very sweet but always seemed to have a wild streak that would take him away all day whereas ellie stays close to home. you realise how attached you get and the sadness and grief has been real. watching tommy was a double whammy for me but good that he got it out. shine on you crazy diamond jupey boy!
my mac, ggrrrr, is having to go back because the same thing is happening to it that was going on last year when i had a saga and a half. the power supply switch is playing up again. i am surprised that i am managing to get a post in. yesterday it would literally switch itself off the second it had come on but for some reason this morning it has stayed on so i am getting in while i can....the whole time completely paranoid that there will be a click and i'll lose it all. so with that in mind i will sign off and not push my luck.
i'll be checking my blog from michael's laptop so you can leave me a comment, which i adore to get!!! and i will be back, everything crossed, real soon! xxx
oh, i am so sorry to hear about jupey... but i have to say i love your shine on message to him, i am sure he knows.
and, that power deal? i had to have my power source fixed (new one...) earlier this year. apparently it is a known issue, i realize that doesn't make it better - it made me pretty snarly while at the apple store - but since fixed i haven't had any more problems.. good luck.

Sorry to hear about Jupey. Miracles do happen though and I have had cats dissappear for weeks only to suddenly show up again. So don't give up just yet! I love the flower machine! How cute and perfect for a budding seamstress!

What a great little machine and perfect for learning on. Good luck with it! I'm sure you'll have many great memories with it.
And so sorry about the little lost kitten. Perhaps he's just gone for a very long walkabout? Maybe he'll come back in a few days - dirty but happy to be back home?

Congratulations on your little Blossom! She's adorable! Mimi's so excited she has a down under cousin!
I'm so sorry to hear about your Jupey Boy. I know what pets bring to a family, and I'm so sad for you. Let's just hope Jupey is having a great time. I picture him with a red and white polka dot knapsack at the end of stick touring the countryside.

Hi, it's good to find another Kiwi crafty blog. I heve been eyeing up that cute Janome machine for my own daughter. So funny to see you had also seen the Hello Kitty ones!! I'd love it if they were available in NZ.
