It is freezing here and I have been inside all day apart from whipping out and taking these photos when there was some okay light. I am making a birthday cake for Saturday night and so thought it best if I started with the decorations. Don't want Martha knocking on my door and telling me I've done it in the wrong order which is highly likely with me. My friend Nic is a surfer, I'm sure he has salt water in his veins so of course the cake has to reflect this. Here are the beginnings of the project. I love this book! The fabric I made with a piece of vintage style fabric I unpicked out of an old hat of Michael's, shrunk it half on the photocopier and printed it onto transfer paper and ironed it on to a piece of calico. Now the Nic doll has tiny hula girls on the side of his board shorts! The surfboard I made out of shrinky dink plastic. I made it as big as the sheet would allow. It didn't like being that big and I had to make 2 as the first one had an odd shaped side due to the curling nature of the beast.
He is nearly ready for that perfect set to roll in! He has his shorts on, which were fussy and just needs hair and beads. Stand by!
Sweet! Makes me wish we had waves here in Kansas! ha!
Do I need to send you more shrinky dink plastic too?
