its speeding up - its not just me is it? i can feel the silly season in the wind. well muggy piddly little breeze here! time to get the tree and settle into the build up!
last week was a birthday - a friend of tommys was turning 18. 18? so grown up! i felt this deserving of cake. what do you put on top of an 18 year old boys cake? pepe lopez of course. the legal drinking age here is 18 (too young if you ask me!) so inspired by the fact that i knew there was going to be some tequila floating about i thought about the namesake.
and the cake. a lemon cake on the bottom and a chocolate cake on the top. when i was baking the lemon cake it was dripping butter all over the bottom of the oven. what?! it wasn't until later in the day when i was caught in traffic that i clicked. i had doubled the butter! 4 sticks instead of 2. how bad is that. in my defence your honor there were 2 recipes on the same page for 2 sizes of cake. it tasted fine - not at all dry! i found the chillies at the local market. the kids all ate them - crazy young things!
now onto something i worked on in may and it has just come out now. it is in the latest issue (the kids issue) of homespun magazine (i did the mother mouse last year). please excuse the light or lack of!
and just when you think thats enough here are some clearer photos i took when i first made them but couldn't blog them.
the 'shroom house
the patched leaf - the back is dark green with cream polka dots
and the gnome.....
and they all hang off a felt log. michael had to keep that naughty gnome facing the camera with a stick! he kept wanting to twirl (the gnome that is!). there will be twirling on my shoot!
so thats it - you can go now and tomorrow i shall regale you with photos of the christmas salvage window that went in this very day! feast or famine round here!
