It is freezing here and I have been inside all day apart from whipping out and taking these photos when there was some okay light. I am making a birthday cake for Saturday night and so thought it best if I started with the decorations. Don't want Martha knocking on my door and telling me I've done it in the wrong order which is highly likely with me. My friend Nic is a surfer, I'm sure he has salt water in his veins so of course the cake has to reflect this. Here are the beginnings of the project. I love this book! The fabric I made with a piece of vintage style fabric I unpicked out of an old hat of Michael's, shrunk it half on the photocopier and printed it onto transfer paper and ironed it on to a piece of calico. Now the Nic doll has tiny hula girls on the side of his board shorts! The surfboard I made out of shrinky dink plastic. I made it as big as the sheet would allow. It didn't like being that big and I had to make 2 as the first one had an odd shaped side due to the curling nature of the beast.
He is nearly ready for that perfect set to roll in! He has his shorts on, which were fussy and just needs hair and beads. Stand by!
Well, I have waited such a long time to get this blog off the ground and now here I am shy and wondering what on earth to say! I have been lurking in the wonderful blogsville since early April and have been a woman obsessed ever since! I have a flickr site but I wanted more! It all came about with Simmy from the lovely 'Echoes of a Dream'. Her sister who has just been to stay with her is a friend of mine and kept telling me I must visit her sister's blog. And off I went on a journey of newfound creativeness, motivation and inspiration and such amazement that you are all out there and doing such wonderful things. And the sharing and trust within the community. Sweet Blueberry Mama sent me some freezer paper because I didn't know what it was and it isn't available here. I have even started tidying up 20 years of craft supply collection. Not quite there but finding treasures aplenty. So nice to be doing something and know where to find things. I have made some friends that I have been saving for when I posted which really are an amalgamation of everything I have seen. We have called them Octavia (floral dress), Winifred (dress with friend in pocket) and Curtis (the cowboy). I have thought about an Etsy Shop but they have been residing in our lounge for so long now that I might have to make some more. Anyway that is enough for a first time. Finding my way around how to do this has been challenge enough let alone actually doing an actual post!!!
